By making data easier to contribute, understand and use across organisations, Bigpicture helps reduce some of the technical, legal and practical barriers that currently limit large-scale digital pathology research.
This enables researchers, healthcare organizations, industry and technology partners to work with pathology data in a more consistent and responsible way, supporting AI development, validation and biomedical research across Europe.

Bigpicture is built by a European public-private consortium spanning healthcare, research, industry, technology, ethics and governance. Partners contribute data, develop technology and standards, test workflows and help shape the governance needed to make Bigpicture work in practice. The current project is also preparing the foundation for a broader European community of data contributors, researchers and collaborators in the future.
