The EU Landscape of Legal Frameworks 

Work package 5 | Lead beneficiary: Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN)

The objective of this deliverable report on the 'Lanscape of Guidelines, Standards and Regulatory requirements Relevant for Digital Pathology (Clinical)' identifies legal rules applicable to the initial contributors of Whole Slide Images (WSIs) and accompanying metadata in the Bigpicture project.

The First Collected Datasets 

Work package 3 | Lead beneficiary: Region Östergötland

This report describes the first versions of the defined and collected datasets for the Bigpicture repository. Additionally, the report includes the underlying work procedures that have been performed in the processes to define datasets in terms of cohorts, storage file format standards, metadata schema and standards and metadata file storage standard.

Bigpicture partners have worked together to develop and launch the Bigpicture website. It is our ‘front door’ for the outside world, aiming it to be as informative, representative and attractive as possible to keep all involved stakeholders engaged and widen the community throughout the project duration and beyond.

Report on WSI Format to DICOM Conversion Tools (D4.04)
To provide a uniform format for the Whole Slide Images (WSIs) to be included in the Bigpicture repository, it has been decided that all images should be stored in the vendor neutral DICOM format. To enable submission of such images to the Bigpicture repository, a converter has been developed, capable of reading WSIs in common proprietary formats and converting them to DICOM.

Overview of the Legal Frameworks of All Countries Involved in Bigpicture (D5.01)

Report on Landscape of Guidelines, Standards and Regulatory Requirements Relevant for Digital Pathology, Non-clinical (D5.02)
As a preliminary step to establishing a regulatory dialogue about the use of digital pathology in the nonclinical area, a review of the current standards and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) requirements for whole slide image and artificial intelligence use in nonclinical studies has been conducted.

The field of digital pathology is embedded in the highly regulated health sector. There are currently many guidelines available, both on national and international level, that can be considered.

Report on Bigpicture Community Online (D6.01)
