About Gabriele Pohlmeyer-Esch

Gabriele Pohlmeyer-Esch, Dr. med. vet., EFPIA Co-Leader of WP5. Dr. Pohlmeyer-Esch is Director Pathology, Nonclinical Drug Safety Germany. She has 25 years of professional experience in toxicological pathology and is currently Director of Pathology within Nonclinical Drug Safety Germany at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma in Biberach, Germany. She is a certified veterinary specialist in laboratory animal science and Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Pathology. Before joining Boehringer Ingelheim in 2016, she occupied responsible positions in the field of toxicologic pathology both in the agrochemical and pharmaceutical industry, among which Hafslund Nycomed in Austria, Bayer CropScience in France and Novartis Pharma in Switzerland. She also worked as an independent consultant in toxicologic pathology during more than a decade. She is an active member of several national and international professional societies and currently serves as secretary of the European Society of Toxicologic Pathology. In this role she gained experience in the organization of international expert workshops, bringing together expert scientists from the pharma arena with regulators and academia. She plans to use her extensive network and international experience in order to achieve agreements and standards in the use of WSI and acceptance criteria for AI tools.
